Leader of the eco-design competition for packaging

This company contributes to the recycling of its packaging.

Adelphe, a state-approved company and subsidiary of CITEO, is a non-profit eco-organization, which aims to develop the recycling of household packaging from companies in France, particularly in the Wines and Spirits sector.

Launched in 2020, this eco-design competition called "Millésime" aims to reward companies in the wine, champagne, spirits, beer and cider industries that are committed to improving the environmental impact of their packaging.

More than fifty companies wished to participate this year. A jury composed of 11 experts first selected 6 finalists, in two different categories (companies with more than 50 employees and companies with less than 50 employees), before letting the public choose between them.

Adelphe's Millésime competition:
the only eco-design competition for wine actors.

We offer organic wines for sale, whose production and distribution processes have been carefully thought out
to ensure the lowest possible environmental impact.

The Adelphe jury identified six strong points, placing it immediately among the finalists:
elimination of capsules, use of materials that have end-of-life channels, purchase of recycled materials,
weight of the bottle lower than the average in the territory...

"Winning this eco-design award is a real recognition of the values we advocate, for the actions we have been taking since our launch,
for our teams who are involved on a daily basis in making the world a better place and on our scale.
This competition, approved by the State, and this unique prize in the wine world, supports our eco-responsible approach,
committed for a year and a half " explains Mickaël Alborghetti, our founder.

We are delighted to have won this competition, which rewards our environmental efforts.

Company with a mission

As we announced earlier this year, EthicDrinks is now a certified as a company with a mission

. This certification is awarded to companies dedicated to addressing environmental and social issues. Our primary objective is to make the wine industry more sustainable by participating in a development approach that benefits both the planet and consumers.

Through our process, it is clear that we are fully committed to our environmental approach. To minimize our impact, we assess our carbon footprint to identify the areas with the highest emissions so that we can reduce them.

How do we act ?

We asses our carbon footprint with Toovalu every year! What is TOOVALU?

A company based in Nantes that offers training to help companies better their environmental approach, to develop their Corporate Social Responsibility and to evaluate their carbon footprint. “You must count your carbon impact to better reduce it”. We can act, and implement a corrective action plan.

Each emission is divided into one of 3 categories:

Scope 1 (for direct emissions linked to the manufacture of products),
Scope 2 (indirect emissions related to energy consumption)
Scope 3 (other indirect emissions: the team’s lifestyle, transportation, end of life of products, etc.).

In total, EthicDrinks emitted 128 tons of CO2 in 2019, which we are reducing and offsetting through various actions…

To reduce the emissions generated during product manufacturing, we have strict and complete specifications:

Zero plastic is our commitment.

Our suppliers deliver products to us using cardboard, kraft, string, cardboard inserts or wooden cases to avoid plastic waste.

Additionally, we use no capsules to minimize waste, and do not use adhesive labels, which generate excessive waste after application.

We use FSC-certified paper labels and corks from sustainable, recycled and recyclable forests.

We also use vegetable and natural glue, and our lightweight bottle is made from recycled glass. For 80% of our bottles (the rest being rosé), we use dark glass made from recycled glass.

Our shipments are secured with recycled and recyclable kraft tape, and we are committed to green logistics.

We use trains for delivery in France and Europe, and are involved with TOWT, the first sailing transport for large exports.

Our first trip is scheduled for 2022. For short trips, we use trucks powered by bio-ethanol or grape marc waste.

We also supply grape marc waste to a vegan shoe brand.

Our eco-friendly practices are at the core of our business values and help us reduce our environmental impact.

At the local step, we are committed to the CNPF to plant 2 hectares of locust trees in Saint-Émilion, Gironde.

This effort will offset over 300 tons of CO2.

In addition to our 100% ecological approach, we offset our carbon emissions by planting trees in Peru through Reforest’action.

We are also partner with various organizations, including donating a portion of our revenue to 1% for the Planet and supporting the protection of the Mediterranean Sea with WWF.

Recently, we have joined the Surfrider Foundation to help protect the oceans and combat plastic waste. Our commitment to sustainability and environmental protection remains at the forefront of our mission.
